황현숙 작가는 흙과 그릇의 ‘안과 밖’을 매개로 인간과 일상의 본질을 사유하며, 단순한 형태 속에 깊은 온기와 감성을 담아내는 작업을 통해 현대 도예의 조형성과 철학을 함께 제시한다.
Hwang Hyun-sook contemplates the essence of humanity and daily life through the"inside and outside" of clay and vessels. Her work, which conveys warmth and emotion within simple forms, presents both the sculptural and philosophical dimensions of contemporary ceramics.
흙과 대화를 나누며,
흙을 느끼고 만지며 나의 작업은 시작됩니다.
흙은 나의 언어이고 나는 그 언어로 내가 생각하는 것을 표현합니다
어떤 흙은 완고하게 저항하며 스스로의 존재를 드러내고,
부드러운 흙은 온순하게 나의 손길을 따라 흐릅니다.
흙과 나는 그렇게 침묵의 대화를 이어가며 형태를 만들어갑니다.
때로는 기능속에서 발견한 디자인의 요소를 활용해 만들기도 하고
때로는 연상되는 기억 속의 아름다움을 끌어내 추상적인 형태를 만들기도 합니다.
하지만 작업을 통해 언제나 내가 느끼고 표현하고픈 것은 자연에 대한 애정과
생명의 경이로움입니다.
이 전시는 흙과 나눈 조용한 대화의 기록이며, 자연을 향한 마음을 담아낸
작은 울림입니다.
Artist Statement
My work begins the moment I feel and touch the clay.
Clay is my language, the medium through which I give form to my thoughts.
Some clays resist, asserting their presence, while others yield gently,
flowing with my hands. In this silent dialogue with clay, forms begin
to emerge.
Sometimes I discover elements of design within functional forms.
Other times I take the beauty of remembered moments and turn them
into abstract forms. But at the heart of every creation lies my affection for
nature and a deep sense of awe for its wonder
This exhibition is a quiet record of those conversations with clay,
a gentle echo of my reverence for the natural world.
